Personal Background<\/b><\/h2>\n

I am a Senior Lecturer in Finance at The Open University Business School<\/a>. My research focuses on financial decisions by firms, the impact of financial structures on firm performance and the effects of venture capital funding. Several of my previous research projects were concerned with capital market activities of firms and the consequences of private equity financing in small and large enterprises, as well as business accelerators and activities of early-stage investors such as business angels. My research was funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the UK~IRC through the Centre for Business Research<\/a>, the German Federal Ministry of Finance, the German State Media Authorities and through the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme. I have taught financial management, corporate finance and microeconomics and supervised students in the MBA programme and Management Studies Tripos at Cambridge Judge Business School. At the Open University, I have taught modules on corporate finance, derivatives, investment, research methods and data analytics to students in MBA, MSc in Finance and undergraduate courses.<\/p>\n

Research Interests<\/b><\/h2>\n

Financial constraints to investment and innovation, innovation dynamics in entrepreneurial firms, listed private equity, venture capital and buyout fund pricing, efficient capital markets, quantitative methods in economics and finance.<\/p>\n
